Short, because there is very little to describe. The one part that needs detail is the adverts, and it is spelled out in full.
This website
If you put your email address in the form, we store it: the address, whether you ticked the tester box, which part of the page you signed up from, and the date. That is the whole record. It lives in a private database that only we can read.
We use it once, to tell you the app is out. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone, and there is no newsletter attached to it. Ask us at heydarkamalifar@gmail.com and we will delete it, without asking why.
The site has no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no cookie banner, because it sets no cookies.
The app
Iqra has no account and no login, so there is nothing to attach data to. We collect nothing and run no analytics of our own.
Everything you do in it — what you have read, your bookmarks and notes, your memorisation progress, your streak — is stored in a database on your own phone and is not transmitted anywhere. That is true whether you subscribe or not, and it is true of the advertising below: no advertiser is ever told what you read, recited, searched for or memorised.
Location
Used for two things only: the direction of the qibla and your prayer times. Both are computed on the device. The coordinates are kept on the phone and are never sent to us or to anyone else. Refuse the permission and every other part of the app still works.
Microphone and speech recognition
One optional exercise listens while you recite so it can show you which words came out and which were skipped. It runs only while that screen is open and only after you press the button. Recognition is requested on the device— the app sets iOS’s on-device flag — so the audio does not leave your phone, and nothing is recorded, saved or sent. The comparison is words only: it cannot judge tajweed, and the screen says so. Refuse the microphone and the rest of the memorisation drill still works.
What the app fetches from the internet
Reading works with no connection at all. The network is used only to download optional extras when you ask for them: additional reciters, additional translation languages, and the mushaf page fonts. These come from public content delivery networks. No request identifies you, and there is no server of ours involved.
Advertising
The free version of the app shows adverts, and they are what pay for everything being free. There are exactly two places they can appear: a banner at the very bottom of the home tab, and one full-screen advert when you leave a memorisation session you have finished. There are never adverts on a page of Qur'an, on the mushaf, in a story, on a supplication, in the memorisation drill, on prayer times or on the qibla.
They are served by Google AdMob. To serve them Google receives your device's advertising identifier, your rough location derived from your network address, and technical details about the device. It does notreceive anything about your use of the app. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's privacy policy.
On iPhone and iPad you are asked, through Apple's own dialog, whether the app may use that identifier. In the UK and the European Economic Area you are asked first through Google's consent form. Refusing is a normal answer and costs you nothing— you still see the same two adverts, chosen without reference to you, and every feature works identically. You can change your mind later in your device's privacy settings.
Advert categories are restricted: the app requests only general-audience adverts, and dating, gambling, alcohol, tobacco, suggestive content, other religions, politics and astrology are blocked at the account level. If something inappropriate ever reaches you, please send us a screenshot and we will block that advertiser.
The subscription
A subscription removes the two adverts. It unlocks nothing, because nothing is locked: every verse, translation, recitation, lesson, story and the whole memorisation plan are available to everyone, free, permanently. There is no paid tier of the Qur'an and there never will be.
Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card, your name or your billing address. To know whether adverts should be switched off on your device, the app checks your purchase through RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier and the store receipt for that purchase. That identifier is not linked to your name, your email or anything you do in the app, and there is no account behind it.
Cancel any time from your device's subscription settings. Cancelling restores the adverts and takes nothing else away.
The AI companion, if it ships
One optional feature would send a verse, its tafsir and the question you typed to a server in order to answer it. Nothing is stored. It is clearly marked where it appears, and the app is complete without it. If this changes, this page changes with it.
Children
The app's content is suitable for any age, and we collect nothing from anyone of any age. It is not directed at children, and it is not submitted to Apple or Google as a children's app: it carries general-audience advertising, which is why the adverts are restricted to the general-audience rating described above. If a child uses it, the subscription removes the adverts entirely.
Please do not submit an email address to this site if you are under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the previous wording is replaced. We will not quietly widen what we collect.
